A teenager has been charged, accused of stealing a car from a Tamworth caravan park – and setting it alight.
Police say the 19-year-old took the keys to a Hyundai, and other items from Peel Street, after 5:30 pm on Friday.
The SUV wasn’t seen again until Saturday morning when smoke was seen coming from the Hilton Street area.
Officers chased a nearby man on foot and arrested him on Vera Street.
The 19-year-old has been granted bail to front Tamworth Local Court again later this month.
