RICHMOND VALLEY COUNCIL CONTINUES LEGAL FIGHT AGAINST INSURANCE COMPANY

Richmond Valley Council is continuing its legal fight against insurance company, JLT.

Council joined the class action two years ago after the broker allegedly stole millions of dollars through misleading conduct.

It’s alleged JLT cost council $300,000 annually by inflating premiums by 50 per cent.

“There’s a group of thirteen councils involved. There’s the opportunity for more councils to join that action. There’s mediation set for December,” Richmond Valley Council General Manager, Vaughan Macdonald, said.

A trial is expected to start in October next year.
