TAMWORTH WOMAN TO FRONT COURT AFTER ALLEGEDLY HITTING A POLICE CAR
A young woman will front court today in Tamworth after allegedly crashing into a police car during a pursuit.
Last Wednesday, police initiated a pursuit after the driver of a white Holden Commodore allegedly failed to stop on Chelmsford Avenue.
The pursuit was terminated a short time later for safety concerns, and the driver got away.
At around 10:30 last night, officers spotted the same vehicle on Goonoo Goonoo Road.
Police pursued the car, before the driver spun out of control, allegedly slamming into a police car.
It’s further alleged, the 23-year-old behind the wheel tried to run away.
She was arrested a short distance from the scene and taken to Tamworth Hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries.
The woman has been charged with several offences including:
- Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously (two counts)
- Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period (two counts)
- Use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road (two counts)
- Use vehicle on road or road related area motor vehicle tax not paid
- Use uninsured motor vehicle (two counts)
- Use class A vehicle displaying altered number-plate
- Breach of bail
