A man has faced Newcastle court after allegedly attempting to rob a service station in Gateshead late yesterday.
The 20-year-old is accused of entering the station armed with a knife and demanding cash from the shop assistant.
Police say the man fled the scene, and was later arrested at a Windale address.
He was charged with armed robbery and breach of bail.
