The New South Wales water watchdog has issued more than 40 fines to people on the North Coast during the last financial year.
The Natural Resource Access Regulator says it’s seen illegal pumping and diversion of water into dams, as well as infrastructure on properties that shouldn’t be there.
On the Far North Coast, more than a dozen penalty infringements notices were issued over breaches to state water laws.
