TAMWORTH’S ROGER GARMENT DONATES BLOOD FOR THE 400TH TIME

Tamworth’s very own superhero rolled up his sleeves for the 400th time today.

Roger Garment first signed up to give blood back in the 70’s, after being dared to by his friends.

Some 50 years later and he’s still going, with the local Red Cross today celebrating the generous donor’s milestone contribution.

“I suppose it did come to a realisation when my mother-in-law developed a form of aplastic anaemia, where she needed regular blood transfusions. That brought it home to me a little bit in the fact that, what I’m doing is doing good for somebody.”

Mr Garment has helped save more than 1,000 lives.
