A coal ship crewman who tested positive for COVID-19 has been discharged from John Hunter Hospital, after health authorities determined it was an old infection.
The man, aged in his 20s, arrived in the Port of Newcastle aboard the Anacapa Light and was taken to hospital on Friday.
An expert panel has examined the case and says the man has not been infectious since arriving in Australia.
All other crew members have returned negative test results, and are no longer required to isolate.
