NEW MAYOR AND DEPUTY ELECTED FOR LIVERPOOL PLAINS SHIRE

The Liverpool Plains Shire has officially elected a new mayor.
Councillor Doug Hawkins was voted in by his fellow councillors in a secret ballot meeting yesterday.
He succeeds incumbent mayor, Andrew Hope, who has stepped down after six years in the top job.
The role of deputy mayor was given to Councillor Ken Cudmore, who was contested by two other councillors, including incumbent deputy Paul Moules.
Councillors Hawkins and Cudmore will serve in their roles until the next local government election in September, 2021.
