POLICE CHASE THROUGH SEVERAL HAMILTON SOUTH BACKYARDS LEADS TO AN ARREST
An alleged Cooks Hill thief who was on the run for more than a week, was tracked down in Hamilton last night, leading police on a chase through several property’s backyards.
The 35-year-old was wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants, when police circulated his photo on social media earlier this month.
Investigations led police to Coady Street in Hamilton South last night where they spotted the wanted man.
He then took off, jumping fences, running through multiple backyards, trying to hide from police.
The Dog Unit and PD VEGAS helped to flush out the run-away, and he was cornered by police after jumping a fence.
When searched, officers allegedly found stolen property and knuckle dusters.
He was arrested and taken to Newcastle Police Station where he was charged with the two arrest warrants and three fresh offences including goods in custody reasonably suspected stolen, possess prohibited weapon and obtain property by deception (relating to a break, enter and steal that occurred at Cooks Hill on 20/09/2020).
The male was bail refused by police and will appear at Newcastle Local Court today.
