A beachfront home at Merewether has sold for $7.25 million, becoming the highest selling residential property ever in Newcastle.
The four-bedroom home on John Parade was supposed to go to auction in November, but was snatched up this week.
It shatters the previous record set in 2008, which was $7 million for a former convent across an entire block, known as Jesmond House.
It’s understood the property attracted attention from Sydney and interstate buyers, but in the end, it sold to a local family.
