MAJORITY OF COMMUNITY RUGBY LEAGUE BOARD MEMBERS STAND DOWN
Most of the members of the Newcastle and Hunter Community Rugby League board have stood down, following a violent clash between players at a game between Dora Creek and West Wallsend last Saturday.
The departing members claim New South Wales Rugby League has been too slow to react to alleged racial vilification at games.
The board says, “Those departing and the minority who remain do not support any breaches of the NRL Code of Conduct, especially those of a violent nature.”
It adds, “We applaud the NSWRL on its prompt action to deal with the violence of the weekend but believe the time it has taken to address concerns and allegations of vilification is not adequate.”
