UNE HOLDS FORMAL CONSULTATION AHEAD OF RESTRUCTURE

The University of New England has begun a wide-scale restructure, which will see around 200 jobs lost.

A 20-day formal consultation process is underway, giving staff the chance to have their say on how a new business model should operate.

“We do not make these decisions lightly, but they are necessary, and I hope that at the end of all of this, we will be commended for having taken an open, fair and transparent approach around some very difficult institutional decisions.”

The cost cutting review was launched in July after the Uni plunged into a $20-million debt.
