An extensive search for a beachgoer feared missing off Copacabana Beach this morning turned out to be a false alarm – someone mistaking a seal for a swimmer in trouble.
Helicopters, police and a surf rescue boat was called in to assist when the alarm was raised around 9 o’clock, but the search was called off after 90 minutes.
