A $34-million proposal for a new hotel and event space in Byron Bay has been knocked back.
Lifestyle complex “Mercato” wanted to demolish the old Woolworths supermarket on Jonson street to build a 146-room hotel.
A vote last night by the Northern Regional Planning Panel decided it would not go ahead.
