SCHMIEDEL COMES HOME AN OZTAG WORLD CHAMPION

Tamworth Oztag player Rachel Schmiedel has returned home from the Sunshine Coast a world champion, after the Australian side she represented in won gold at the Oztag World Cup on the weekend.

Following 10 games over four days it came down to the grand final against New Zealand, which the Aussies claimed by two points.

“It hasn’t really actually hit too much yet, it’s just like oh okay that’s all over and done with now, but no it’s really good and it was nice to meet new players and take away new moves.”

Schmiedel’s looking forward to some time off, before she begins preparations for the state cup in March.
