MORE THAN 70 STAFF MADE REDUNDANT AT SOUTHERN CROSS UNIVERSITY

More than 70 staff have been made voluntarily redundant at Southern Cross University, as the institution grapples with a $38-million budget shortfall over the next two years.

92 staff applied for the program, with 24 academics and 47 professional staff approved.

The university warns there will be more job losses and other cost cutting measures to deal with the budget blackhole.
