ANOTHER SECTION OF PACIFIC HWY UPGRADE TO OPEN BEFORE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
The ribbon was cut on one of the final pieces of the multi-billion-dollar Woolgoolga to Ballina Pacific Highway upgrade today.
But motorists will have to wait a bit longer before they can drive on the 34-kilometre section, which bypasses Woodburn, Broadwater and Wardell.
“This is a significant project – 3800 direct jobs, 11,400 indirect jobs supported by the pacific highway upgrade,” Deputy Prime Minister, Michael McCormack, said.
The section is expected to open by the September school holidays, with the entire 155-kilometre project finished by Christmas.
“This highway is always and will always be about the fact we want to reduce fatalities on this highway and where it has been dual-duplicated fatalities are at multi-decade lows,” Federal Member for Page, Kevin Hogan, said.
