An 80-year-old man managed to escape from his car without any injuries, after it caught fire at East Maitland this afternoon.
Emergency services arrived at Melbourne Street just before 4 o’clock, to find the car well alight.
Traffic was affected for some time as crews worked to extinguish flames.
The elderly man was assessed by ambulance staff at the scene, and didn’t need to be taken to hospital.
