CONSTRUCTION TO MAKE SHARED PATHWAY SAFER AT WARNERS BAY

Night work has started on replacing and stabilising retaining walls along the popular Watagan Track at Warners Bay.

Around 500 metres of the shared pathway between Ryan Street and Fairfax Road, will be shut off between 6pm and 5am, while the work is carried out.

“We noticed some small movement earlier last year, and some temporary replacement works were done that you see behind us, but we’re undertaking a more long-term, permanent solution for safety in the future.” – Karen Partington, Lake Macquarie Council.

Council says the work should be complete by the end of October.

“This track in particular is one of our most popular within the Lake Macquarie area, and so we want to make sure it’s safe and available for people to use that as a mode of transport.”
