CENTRAL COAST MAN CHARGED OVER ALLEGED ONLINE CHILD GROOMING

A 62-year-old man will front court today charged over alleged online grooming.

Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crime Squad’s Child Exploitation Internet Unit (CEIU) began engaging online with the man from the Central Coast, last month.

Police allege the man believed he was speaking with a 13-year-old boy and engaged in sexually explicit conversations.

It’s alleged he made arrangements to meet with him.

Strike Force Detectives arrested the 62-year-old at a home on the Central Coast about 10am yesterday.

He has been charged with use carriage service to groom under 16 years for sex.

The man was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Bail Court today.
