TRAVEL AGENT PETITION HITS 4,700 SIGNATURES

A pair of Tamworth travel agents are leading calls for better support for the tourism sector.

More than 4-and-a-half thousand people have now signed a parliamentary petition launched by Louise Brock and Tracy O’Sullivan.

Today, the pair met with state member, Kevin Anderson, who threw his support behind the campaign.

“We’re saying “okay, how about booking locally?” Why don’t you think about travelling to regional New South Wales, pick up the phone, talk to your local travel agent, think about that weekend away. Don’t get online and book it with a faceless name or a faceless number that takes your money and has no local connection.”

You can sign the petition online, via the Federal Government’s website.
