MAN CHARGED OVER TRAIN STATION VANDALISM

A man’s due to face court today, after being charged with vandalism at train stations in Sydney, on the Central Coast and across the Hunter.

Yesterday, investigators searched a home at Blue Haven around 10am, finding sketch pads, spray paint, a mobile phone, three cannabis plants in a hydroponic set-up and 16 grams of dried cannabis.

These items were seized for forensic examination.

A 19-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Wyong police station.

He’s been charged with 21 offences, including seven counts of malicious damage, and was refused bail.

Police say he vandalised trains and infrastructure at stations in Kingsgrove, Maitland, Campbelltown, Hamilton, Lidcombe, Telarah and Gosford.

He’s the second person to be charged; a 35-year-old man from Newtown was arrested earlier this month and remains before the courts.
