MAN AND BOY CHARGED OVER ARMED ROBBERIES, BREAK AND ENTERS
A man and a boy have faced court over a string of armed robberies and attempted break and enters in Newcastle and Port Stephens.
Strike Force Nyrang detectives have been investigating three service station robberies at Sandgate, Williamtown and Wallsend, as well as attempted break and enters at two liquor stores at Medowie and Elermore Vale.
A 14-year-old boy was charged over the Wallsend robbery last week and was due to face a children’s court today.
However, following further inquiries, police re-arrested the boy along with a 36-year-old man at a Medowie home at around 7am yesterday.
They searched the home and allegedly found several items, including clothing which were seized for forensic examination.
The pair is known to each other.
Police allege they robbed and attempted a rob a number of businesses in May and June this year.
They’ve both been refused bail and will appear in court today.
