NO BY-ELECTION FOR COFFS COUNCIL
Calls to hold a by-election to fill a vacancy on Coffs Harbour City Council, have been formally rejected by the state government because of the pandemic.
The decision means the vacancy on council won’t be filled until the local government elections, which are now scheduled for September 2021.
In May, Councillor Keith Rhodes, suggested advice be sought on how to fill the vacancy caused by Councillor Jan Strom’s resignation.
The council is split on the issue of plans to build a $76-million civic space.
