BLAZE ERUPTS IN THE CHIMNEY OF A TAMWORTH HOME

Firefighters were quick to extinguish a chimney fire that broke out in Tamworth last night.
Crews arrived at the multi-story home on Croydon Avenue at around 6:30pm.
The two residents escaped unharmed.
The blaze has sparked renewed calls for people to keep their chimneys clean.
“Especially now that real cold snap’s hit and it’s a timely reminder that working fire alarms save lives and to have an escape plan. If that was at 2 o’clock in the morning it would have been very hard for residents to find their way out and for firefighters to gain access.”
