Non-maternity patients could be turned away from the Women’s Care Unit at Lismore Base Hospital as of next week, as part of industrial action by the Nurses and Midwives Association.
It says reducing surgical admissions is the only way to ensure the proper care of patients, following staffing cuts.
Hospital management has been given until 5pm on Monday to restore staffing levels.
