CESSNOCK MAN DIES AFTER BEING FOUND INJURED AT RUBBISH TIP

Mystery surrounds the death of a man at a rubbish tip near Cessnock yesterday afternoon.
Police were called to Old Maitland Road, after 5pm yesterday afternoon, where they found a 54-year-old man injured.
The man, believed to be from Cessnock, suffered serious head injuries and was pronounded dead at the scene.
Detectives are now investigating the circumstances of his death.
A 46-year-old man, who was there at the time, has been questioned and released pending further inquiries.
It is unclear why both men were at the tip, outside its operating hours.
Police are urging anyone who was near the waste management facility between 4.30pm and 5pm to come forward.
