ADVOCATE STAFF TO STOPWORK

Staff at the Coffs Coast Advocate are set to stage a stop-work meeting on Friday,
following yesterday’s controversial decision to scrap four of the paper’s six daily publications.

The parent company, APN Media, announced major shakeups at its Coffs Harbour and Tweed Heads papers that will see at least 11 editorial staff lose their jobs.

APN says high publication costs combined with declining sales are responsible for the decision.

Staff are angry they weren’t consulted about the move which has also angered local newsagents who only learnt of the decision from yesterday’s paper.
