TWO MEN STABBED BY INTRUDERS AT HAWKS NEST
Police are hunting a group of intruders who stormed a Hawks Nest home overnight, stabbing two men – one of them a 78-year-old.
The elderly man answered the door of his Booner Street home at around 10:30, when police say he was confronted by three unknown men.
The group pushed past the man, stabbing him in his stomach, before heading upstairs and ambushing a 53-year-old man.
As the younger man tried to flee, he was stabbed eight times in the back and neck.
Police say the group then stole a purse and car keys off a 40-year-old woman, before running away.
The victims were both treated by NSW paramedics and taken to John Hunter Hospital.
Both are in a stable condition.
Police are this morning trawling the scene for clues.
The attackers remain at large.
