GUMBANYGGIRR COMMUNITY TAKE ON LOGGERS

Members of the north coast Gumbaynggirr community, who successfully halted logging of the Nambucca State Forest, have now turned their attention to the old growth forest at Wild Cattle Creek.

This morning protesters chained themselves to logging equipment and erected banners in the forest, north of Dorrigo.

Gumbaynggirr elders have called for a halt to all logging on their traditional lands, which they claim is being carried out without consultation and consent.
