SINGLETON RECEIVES $4.5 MILLION CASH BOOST

After missing two consecutive rounds of funding from the state’s Resources for Regions program, Singleton today received a long-awaited cash boost.
The council accepted $4.5-million from the $50-million fund, set up to assist mining communities.
Mayor Sue Moore said the money would help fund council and community initiatives.
“There’s some really really important community projects which just haven’t been able to get off the ground so our staff are right now working to bring those projects forward.”
The program has now been amended so every mining-impacted community – including Lake Macquarie and Newcastle – will receive a slice of the pie.
