MURWILLUMBAH MAN DIES AFTER CAR CRASHES INTO HOUSE
A 59-year-old man has died in a single-car crash Murwillumbah overnight.
Emergency services were called to Ewing Street shortly after 8pm, following reports a car had left the road, smashed through a guard rail and into a house.
Residents helped paramedics to extricate the man and began CPR, but tragically he couldn’t be revived.
Police say no one else was injured and there was only minor damage to the house.
The 59-year-old was the sole occupant of the car.
Murwillumbah Fire and Rescue Station crews also attended to provide fire protection and checked the vehicle with their thermal imaging equipment due to a smell coming from the drivetrain.
Tweed Rescue crews provided lighting for investigators and assisted with the removal of the vehicle.
The rescue squad finished on scene at about 2am.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
