Jetstar is offering flights for less than $50 from Newcastle Airport, in a bid to restart the domestic tourism industry.
190,000 seats are available across the country at reduced prices, with Jetstar reporting airfare bookings 40 times higher than on a typical day.
Flights to Melbourne and the Gold Coast are from $39 and travelers can fly to Brisbane from $45.
The sale periods are mostly outside school holidays.
Passengers should expect full flights, with air travel exempt from the federal government’s social distancing regulations.
