NORTH COAST PAIR CHARGED WITH DRUG POSSESSION

A stash of illegal drugs and more than $100, 000 cash has allegedly been found inside a hire car at Tweed Heads over the weekend.

Police noticed a Holden Equinox being driven in an unusual way on Kennedy Drive just after 7 o’clock on Friday, and stopped the car to speak to the driver.

The 47-year-old man told police he was mixing his dinner while driving.

During a search of the car, police allegedly found 600 MDMA tablets, 25 grams of liquid LSD, 600 tablets of LSD, 8 grams of cocaine, 122 grams of cannabis, and $106,000 in cash.

The 22-year-old female passenger was also allegedly found in possession of drugs.

The pair were arrested and charged with a string of offences, including commercial drug supply.
