Police are investigating an assault at Muswellbrook last night, which left a man with a fractured skull and lacerations to his face and arms.
Just before 8 o’clock, the 28-year-old was reportedly assaulted while standing in the front yard of a home on Tindale Street.
Paramedics treated the man at the scene, before he was taken to John Hunter Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
The circumstances that led up to the assault are unclear, and detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed it to come forward.
