DOZENS CHARGED OVER ALLEGED STATE-WIDE DRUG SYNDICATE

More than 30 people have been charged over an alleged state-wide, drug supply network operating across the state’s central west and Sydney.

In February last year, police established Strike Force Pinnacle to investigate the network, based in Wellington.

The syndicate allegedly sourced prohibited drugs from Sydney, including methylamphetamine and MDMA and heroin, and distributed them to regional towns across the state.

Between February last year and March this year, fifteen people were arrested and charged in relation to the syndicate.

Around 6 o’clock yesterday morning, a full-scale, police search operation was launched throughout sixteen properties in the state’s central west.

During the searches, police found heroin, methylamphetamine, MDMA, buprenorphine, cannabis, more than $450,000 cash, more than $100, 000 in gold, firearms, electronic stun devices, ammunition, railway detonators, two safes and a poker machine.

Five properties were also searched in south-western Sydney, where police found similar illegal substances, cash, firearms and vehicles.

Twelve people were arrested, to appear at Dubbo Local Court today.

Among those charged is a 28-year-old man with 40 offences, and a 30-year-old man with 37.

Six others were also arrested, and will face Cambelltown Local Court today.

Inquiries are continuing, with more arrests expected.
