CYCLISTS URGED TO HAVE THEIR SAY ON CITY’S CYCLING STRATEGY
Calling all cyclists – Newcastle City Council is reviewing its cycling strategy and it’s asking for your help.
Over the next two weeks, Hunter residents are being asked to give their feedback through an online survey.
Newcastle Lord Mayor, Nuatali Nelmes, says community feedback will be front and centre of the review.
“We want to hear from cyclists to find out what’s great about riding around Newcastle, what could be improved and how more locals might be encouraged to get out there and enjoy the city under pedal power,” Cr Nelmes said.
“We also want to hear from people who don’t ride about what we could do to encourage them to start.”
Council says expansion and improvement of the network is a key focus of its strategy.
It’s currently planning for new cycle routes from Hunter Street, Newcastle West, Merewether and the Junction.
Community feedback will be open until 14 May.
