LISMORE HOPES TO BECOME AVIATION TRAINING HUB

At the Lismore Airport council has partnered with an international company to open a commercial pilot training school on-site.
Airways Aviation has linked up with the Northern Rivers Aero Club and TAFE New South Wales to train aspiring pilots.
At least 20 domestic and international students are expected to enrol in the course in its first year, while studying at Southern Cross University.
“This is going to start small obviously we’d love to see 20 people starting straight away but after talking with the team here from Airways Aviation, who run large schools in Europe, I think the potential here is unlimited – we could see hundreds of students in the near future,” Mayor Isaac Smith said.
