PROGRESS MADE ON REMOVING TRACES OF FUEL FROM DURI GROUNDWATER

Progress has been made to remove traces of fuel from Duri’s groundwater supply.
A specialist treatment unit was installed earlier this year, after fuel leaked into the local bore from underground tanks in December.
43,000 litres of water had been pumped and treated as of last week.
“The fuel gets separated from a dissolved state, the clean water is put into a 22,500 litre rainwater tank attached to the system, and we’re allowing that clean water to be used by Duri residents.”
Residents can access treated water for gardening and stock watering, but they’re being reminded not to use bore water for any purpose.
