DPI WARN NORTH WEST PRODUCERS OF PARTHENIUM OUTBREAK

The Department of Primary Industries is urging producers to be vigilant, after parthenium weed was detected near Forbes and Walgett.

It’s known to spread rapidly and can be dangerous to grazing animals.

The Department says the weed was likely brought in from central Queensland, where 18 million hectares have been overrun.

It presents a significant biosecurity risk and anyone who spots it is asked to contact their nearest DPI office or Local Land Services.
