LIGHT RAIL COMES TO A HALT IN NEWCASTLE AS TRACK IS REPAIRED

The light rail will not operate in Newcastle’s CBD this week as repairs are conducted on the tracks.

Sections of the rail line will be removed and replaced after cracks were found, just a year after the service began operating.

There is cracking at four weld points.

Drainage along the corridor will also be replaced and charge bars will be rotated at stations.

Motorists along Hunter street are urged to be cautious of workers on the road.
