Newcastle Council has confirmed Iris Capital’s $700 million redevelopment of the former David Jones building on Hunter Street, has been approved.
“We know that so many industries across Newcastle are doing it tough as a result of the COVID-19 virus, but the opportunity here exists to ensure that we’ve got a great construction industry piece of stimulus occurring and some great re-development, so that the city is ready to go when we re-open.” Declan Clausen, Newcastle Deputy Lord Mayor.
The QT Newcastle Hotel will feature more than 200 rooms, along with retail space.
