CURVE BEGINS TO FLATTEN IN HUNTER NEW ENGLAND HEALTH DISTRICT
For the third consecutive day, there’s been no new cases of coronavirus detected in the Hunter New England Health District.
The total number of cases 270 is in fact less than yesterday, after a number of tests were re-run and returned a negative result.
Public Health physician, Dr David Durrheim, says he’s cautiously optimistic about the curve flattening.
“It’s very pleasing to see the number of cases have stablised over the past week.”
To stay on the front foot, Hunter New England Health is ramping up coronavirus testings in areas where there’s been a low numbers of tests conducted.
” We want to make sure we’re not missing the virus anywhere,” said Dr Durrheim, “so we’re going out actively sluething the virus.”
Moree, in the North West corner of the health district, has so far remained virus-free but there’s also been little testing conducted in the town.
The town is now in health authority’s sights.
Anyone with flu-like symptoms in the Moree area is being urged to call their GP and organise a test.
“We dont expect to find additional cases in Moree but we want to make sure we’ve looked hard enough to detect the virus, to see if it’s actually occurring.”
