Valla Beach residents were warned to stay away from Deep Creek today, as sewage spewed into the waterway.
Nambucca Shire Council found the source of the leak in pipework on the creek bed, and is now awaiting a specialist diver to conduct further investigations.
The sewage pipes run from Valla to Nambucca treatment works.
Signage has been errected and the area will be closed until the leak is repaired.
