CORONAVIRUS UPDATES: NORTHERN NEW SOUTH WALES

TWO NEW CASES IN THE HUNTER NEW ENGLAND HEALTH DISTRICT

Hunter New England Health has confirmed an additional two people have tested positive to COVID-19.

A man in his 60s is in home isolation, after recently returning from the US.

A man in his 20s is also in home isolation after returning from Asia.

This takes the total number of cases in the region to 13.

The health district says it’s in the process of informing close contacts of the two new cases and will be conducting daily wellness checks.

19/03/2020 WHAT WE KNOW:

The number of coronavirus cases in NSW has risen again to 307, 129 of which were acquired overseas.

This is an increase of 40 cases overnight.

There are a further 70 cases under investigation in the state, and only six people with the virus are in intensive care unit.

FIVE CONFIRMED CASES OF CORONAVIRUS ON THE CENTRAL COAST

The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus on the state’s Central Coast has jumped to five overnight.

They include a woman in her 30s who attended a wedding at Tumbling Waters Retreat at Stanwell Tops on March 6.

Another woman and a man, both aged in their 70s, tested positive after returning from overseas.

They were travelling companions of the second confirmed case in the region – a woman in her 40s.

The local health district says it’s providing support to them while they’re in isolation and that all five who are infected are doing well.

FIVE CONFIRMED CASES IN NORTHERN NEW SOUTH WALES

A fifth confirmed case of COVID-19 has been recorded in the Northern NSW Local Health District.

Four of the cases recorded within the LHD were acquired overseas, the fifth case is still under investigation.

All of the infected are self-isolating, and the North Coast Public Health Unit is following up close contacts of the case.

No further details relating to the individual’s location will be made public at this time. There are no locations that pose an ongoing risk to members of the public.

All close contacts of the previous two recorded cases in NNSWLHD have been identified, contacted and followed up by Public Health officers.
