MISSING SWIMMER HOAX

A report of a missing man at a Coffs Harbour beach has turned out to be a hoax.
An extensive air, sea and land rescue operation, which included the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, was launched at Sapphire Beach yesterday afternoon.

Police say they were told a man had been swept into the ocean while walking his dog.

However the man was later discovered safe and well at his home.

More than 30 emergency service personell were involved in the search.

Police are investigating.
