Demolition work has begun, at the site of the former Jolly Roger nightclub.
It’s to make way for two residential buildings, standing nine and 18 storeys high, with retail on the ground floor.
With the site sitting abandoned for the last decade, the $40-million development is aimed to bring a boost to Newcastle’s West End.
