Organisers are keeping their fingers crossed the Battle of the Boats carnival makes a return to Elizabeth Beach this weekend, after powerful swells and strong winds forced last year’s event to the calmer waters of Wallis Lake.
The surf boat event always draws a huge crowd, with 170 crews from across the state already registered.
Heats get underway at 7:30 on Saturday morning, with the finals on Sunday.
