WYONG HOSPITAL REJECTS COAL MONEY

Wyong Hospital has knocked back a multi-million dollar donation from a Central Coast coal mine.

It’s understood the company behind the contentious Wallarah 2 project, approached the health facility with the promise of delivering the money over several years.

In a statement, health district chief Andrew Montague said the offer’s appreciated but the hospital won’t be taking the cash for now – due to the mine’s potential health impacts.

The hospital’s board is organising to meet with Wyong Coal representatives.
