MOONEY MOONEY RESIDENTS CALL ELECTRICITY SUPPLY “THIRD WORLD”

Mooney Mooney residents have labelled their electricity supply ‘third world standard’ – after the suburb lost power five times, across 10 days in January.

Last week’s storm had lights off for more than 40 straight hours – even though the village wasn’t hit hard by wild weather.

Residents are now calling for a backup source – after decades of issues with a supply line from Calga.

“Ausgrid is monitoring the feeder which supplies electricity to the Mooney Mooney area so we can ensure that the high level of outages that we’ve seen doesn’t continue,” Ausgrid representative Jonathon Hall said.
